Large Scale Painting // Nature Themes

This multi-week painting course invites students in grades 3–12 to explore the natural world through large-scale collaborative artwork. Working together, students will transform smaller images and ideas into expansive paintings while learning the fundamentals of composition, color mixing, paint application, and large-scale image transfer.

Students will experiment with a variety of painting techniques and tools, learning how different approaches to brushwork, layering, texture, and color can bring an image to life. Nature-inspired themes will provide a starting point for exploration, encouraging students to observe and interpret plants, animals, landscapes, and other elements of the natural world.

At the heart of the course is collaboration. Students will share ideas, contribute to a collective vision, and work together to create paintings that are larger and more ambitious than what they might create individually. The course emphasizes creative problem-solving, communication, craftsmanship, and the experience of making art as a community.
